New start

This is a new start of this blog, something that felt like it was long coming/needed. The final decision to restart it was a combination of 2 things that were brought to my attention via this tweet from Vicky Boykis.

The first thing was this blog from Henrik Karlssonthat Vicki links to in her tweet. Henrik’s blog is really worth the full read but the title may be the best thing about it:

A blog post is a very long and complex search query to find fascinating people and make them route interesting stuff to your inbox

This title triggered something with me as this is exactly my experience in finding new projects as a consultant or finding new interesting people to talk to.

The second thing was the “luck surface area” visualization of serendipity, as explained here. The idea behind this visualization is nicely summarized as:

The amount of serendipity that will occur in your life is directly proportional to the degree to which you do something you’re passionate about combined with the total number of people to whom this is effectively communicated.

Finally, restarting my blog is also driven by my desire to write down and share thoughts and ideas as a tool in my thinking process, whether writing it down leads to something or not. From that perspective, you, the readers of this blog, are my rubber ducks.

So, what will I blog about? Probably mostly about sports science (with a focus on endurance sports) and data engineering. But I might take some detours…
